About Mira.
Mira Halloran writes from a farmhouse in southern Wisconsin she shares with two cattle dogs and an unreasonable garden. Before fiction, she worked as a hospice nurse for eleven years — a fact you can feel in the way her characters approach death and dinner alike: practically, attentively, without flinching.
Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, Granta, and Tin House. She's a Pushcart Prize winner and a Guggenheim Fellow. She teaches one workshop per year through Tin House and otherwise prefers to be left alone with the work.
The Long Hour, her fourth book, releases October 2026.
